This is one of the most unique zinfandels that you will ever have the opportunity to taste. The reason for this phenomenon is that the fruit in this particular vineyard is affected by boytritus, or the noble rot, that give the great Sauternes of France their character.
The resulting wine has an exquisite nose of honeyed melons and apricots followed by and explosion of ripe fruit on the palette and finished with a wonderful and concentrated acidity.
It is ultra rich and as such needs pairing with foods such as strong flavored cheeses, dry rubbed meats such as chicken or pork, and seasoned grilled vegetables.
It will also work well as a dessert wine paired with bittersweet chocolate recipes or simply poured over fresh fruit wedges and chilled.
